Austin Neighborhood Map
Downtown Austin
Austin is a really fun city to live in. And it all starts in Downtown. I suggest you start at the historic Sixth Street. You can experience live music and all sorts of entertainment here. Other highlights are the Texas State Capitol and the Congress Avenue Bridge (famous for its bat colony).
East Congress Map
On a side note, we’ve included South Congress (SoCo) in this area. East Congress is an interesting area in Austin. You can find unique shops, food trucks, and live music. Continental Club is the granddaddy of all local music venues. I’d say it’s one of the most iconic live music venues in Texas.
East Austin Map
East Congress. Now, East Austin? You’ll like East Austin if you’re into street art, music and food. The neighborhood bursts with cultural diversity and creativity. Its streets are alive with colorful murals. For instance, HOPE Outdoor Gallery is a graffiti park special to this area.
Zilker Map
Most don’t expect to see Zilker on this list. But why not? It’s a stellar neighborhood and with tons of outdoor activities. Zilker Metropolitan Park is situated at Barton Creek and Lady Bird Lake. Fun fact, it’s Austin’s oldest metropolitan park, founded in 1917.
South Lamar (SoLa)
Just right next door to Zilker is the neighborhood of South Lamar (SoLa). It’s home to Broken Spoke. It’s not the fanciest joint in Austin. But it sure has a country vibe to it. It’s also a dance hall… so go cut a rug when you’re there.
Hyde Park Map
Hyde Park is located north of the University of Texas campus. It’s home to the Elisabet Ney Museum, celebrating art and history. You also have the Hyde Park Theatre, where you can catch a performance in a nice and cozy setting.
