Downtown Portland
Downtown Portland is centrally located. It’s just south of the Willamette River, which is its eastern boundary. It is bordered by the Pearl District to the north and the South Waterfront district to the south. Interstate 405 defines its western edge, while Burnside Street marks its northern boundary.
Pearl District
The Pearl District in Portland is located just northwest of downtown. Willamette River is situated to the east. Finally, Northwest District is to the north and west. One main attraction here is Powell’s City of Books. This is the world’s largest independent bookstore, which spans an entire city block.
Alberta Arts District
The Alberta Arts District is centered along Alberta Street. It’s situated between 8th and 33rd Avenues in northeast Portland. This neighborhood has a festive atmosphere and creative spirit. For example, Last Thursday Art Walk is a monthly event that involves artists, performers, and vendors. This area is also known as the “Alberta Rose District”.
Boise Map
You can find this neighborhood in North Portland. It runs mostly along North Mississippi Avenue between Fremont Street and Skidmore Street. Here, you can find the Mississippi Street Fair. This annual event features live music, local food vendors, and craftspeople, drawing thousands of visitors.
St. Johns
St. John’s is located in North Portland. It’s bordered by the Willamette River to the east and the Columbia River to the north. It houses Cathedral Park, situated under the St. Johns Bridge. Come here to enjoy scenic views, walking trails or as a gathering spot.
Nob Hill (Northwest)
Nob Hill is also known as Northwest District. It’s situated in northwest Portland. The neighborhood extends along the Willamette River to the east and Forest Park to the west. The highlight here is 23rd Avenue with all sorts of interesting points of interest and historic buildings.
Sellwood-Moreland
Sellwood-Moreland is located in southeast Portland. It’s bordered by the Willamette River to the west and SE 17th Avenue to the east. The Sellwood Antique Row has a collection of antique shops and vintage stores along 13th Avenue.
Laurelhurst Map
Laurelhurst is known for its beautiful homes and urban parks. It is bounded roughly by 32nd Avenue and 44th Avenue. One main attraction is Laurelhurst Park with a lake, walking paths, and picnic areas.
Kenton Map
Kenton is a distinctive neighborhood. It’s located in North Portland. If you visit, check out the Paul Bunyan statue. This has become a symbol of the neighborhood.
